The Yatra Arts Foundation welcomed Mr. Vinoda Krishna and Ms. Minako Murata from Bangalore’s children’s home and ashram, Vishwalaya, as they presented a puppet show to Yatra’s Evening Tuition students on 11 December 2013. Originally from Japan, puppeteer Ms. Murata presented a small, half-hour show in two parts. The first story, “The Hungry Caterpillar,” humorously recounted the growth of a caterpillar into a butterfly. The second story was a spin-off of the famous “Tortoise and the Hare” fable. Ms. Murata appreciated the well-behaved attention shown by the Evening Tuition students, while Yatra staff members observed the presentation closely for new techniques to integrate into Yatra’s own puppet programs. As exams were approaching and stress was high, Yatra’s children enjoyed the show as a creative mental break from their studies.
